Inviting an accountant to your books

Bring your own accountant onto your account — they get read-only access by default, you control what they can do.

Already using an accountant? You can invite them onto your AccountantUK account so they can see your books in real time, message you in-app, and (once verified) submit on your behalf.

How to invite

Open My accountant in the top nav. Hit Invite your accountant and fill in:

  • Their email address (required).
  • Their full name and firm name (optional).
  • A personal note (optional — gets included in the invite email).

Click Send invite. They get a magic-link email with a link that lands them on a sign-in / sign-up page.

What happens after they accept

  • They're linked to your account with read-only access by default — they can see your expenses, invoices, VAT returns and HMRC submissions, but they can't change anything.
  • You'll see a notification when they accept.
  • They'll go through a quick verification (AML number, professional body, membership). Once we approve that (usually within a working day), their access upgrades to full agent — they can act on your behalf, including submitting VAT/ITSA to HMRC under their agent credentials.

Why you might want to

  • They see your books live, so you stop emailing spreadsheets back and forth.
  • They can submit quarterly MTD returns for you — you just review and sign off.
  • They get a 15% rev-share from us on your subscription, so for them, recommending you to us is income — it doesn't cost you anything extra.

Revoking access

If you ever want to remove their access, My accountant → Revoke. Effective immediately; they lose access on their next page load.
