AccountantUK

Terms of service

Effective: 26 May 2026

These terms govern your use of AccountantUK (www.accountantuk.app) and the services we provide. By creating an account you accept them.

1. What we provide

{brand} is a UK accountancy SaaS for sole traders and limited companies. It computes VAT returns, MTD ITSA quarterly updates, PAYE / RTI payroll, CIS returns, and FRS 105 annual accounts. It submits filings to HMRC and Companies House on your behalf when you authorise it via OAuth or Government Gateway credentials.

2. Your account

You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. You must give us accurate information, and you must let us know within 30 days if anything material changes (e.g. trading name, registered office, VAT registration status).

You must be a UK resident or operating a UK-registered business to use the tax-submission features. We rely on you to confirm your eligibility for any HMRC scheme (MTD VAT, MTD ITSA, RTI, CIS) before submitting on your behalf.

3. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • The accuracy of the data you enter (income, expenses, payslips, subcontractor payments).
  • The accuracy of the figures we compute from that data, after you've reviewed them and ticked the declaration on each submission.
  • Meeting your own filing deadlines (we surface them but don't auto-submit).
  • Paying tax owed to HMRC directly (we don't collect or remit tax payments on your behalf).

4. Limitations on our liability

We provide the service "as is". We're not your accountant — we don't give tax advice. If your filing is incorrect, late, or rejected by HMRC, you remain liable for any penalties HMRC charges.

We're not liable for indirect, consequential or special damages. Our total liability for any twelve-month period is capped at the fees you paid us in that period.

5. Subscription + billing

Paid subscriptions are charged monthly via Stripe in advance. You can cancel at any time from the dashboard; access continues until the end of the paid period and then the account drops to the free tier.

Free-trial periods (where offered) convert to paid at the trial end unless you cancel. We email a reminder 7 days before conversion.

6. Termination

You can delete your account at any time (Settings → Danger zone). On deletion we cancel any active subscription, erase your personal data, and retain only the audit-trail entries we're legally required to keep (HMRC Notice 700/22 + Companies Act). We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms — we'll give you reasonable notice except where immediate suspension is necessary.

7. Changes to the service

We may add, modify or remove features. Material changes that adversely affect paid users get at least 30 days' notice. Tax-law changes that affect submissions are out of our control; we update the app as fast as HMRC publishes the new schema.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes go to the courts of England and Wales.

Nothing in these terms limits any statutory rights you have as a consumer under UK law.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material updates trigger an email notice + an in-app banner; continuing to use the service after 30 days counts as acceptance. Minor edits (typo fixes, clarifications) take effect on publication.
